After a five-year tenure, UW-Milwaukee Panthers Women’s tennis head coach Jason Potthoff has announced his resignation effective immediately to pursue other professional opportunities.
“We wish Jason nothing but success in the next step,” UWM Director of Athletics Amanda Braun said. “He worked tirelessly in his time here to move the tennis program in the right direction — providing a great experience for student-athletes while also staying focused on the academic mission. His teams always consisted of competitive players that worked as hard in the classroom as they did on the court.”
The program is coming off a historic 2021 season where they went 14-8 overall and 7-5 in Horizon League action and earned a third place finish and a spot in the Horizon League Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons. The 14 wins set a program record for most team victories in a single season. UWM made it to the Horizon League Tournament Championship for the first time in program history, before eventually falling to Youngstown State 4-3 in the title match.
Potthoff is leaving with a record of 51-54 (.486) in dual-meet action in his tenure at UWM, including going 19-17 (.528) in Horizon League play.
