The UW-Milwaukee Panthers men’s soccer program has announced their 2022 schedule, which includes 10 home matches (including the exhibition matches) at Engelmann Stadium, as well as all three of the traditional “Cup” games.
Kris Kelderman will begin his 11th season at the helm of the UWM program in 2022, where he holds a 88-70-25 (.549) record with the Panthers. It will be Kelderman’s 12th season overall as a college coach, where he holds a 99-77-26 (.555) career record.
The 2022 schedule is a little home heavy to start the year. The Panthers start the season with a trio of exhibition matches, starting with Milwaukee hosting UW-Parkside on August 13th, then a meeting with Loyola-Chicago in Illinois on August 17th before closing out the exhibition slate with a home match against DePaul on August 20th.
The regular season gets underway in the John Rennie Invitational in Durham, North Carolina on the campus of Duke University. The Panthers play Elon on August 26th and then will play the Duke Blue Devils on August 28th in what will be the first ever meeting between Milwaukee and Duke.
Then Milwaukee will get four straight home matches at Engelmann Stadium, the home opener will be on September 1st against the Wisconsin Badgers, before hosting Drake on the 9th and Western Illinois on the 13th. The final home match of the homestand will be on September 17th where the Panthers take on Robert Morris in the Horizon League opener.
After a three-year hiatus, the battle for the “Milwaukee Cup” when the Panthers and Marquette Golden Eagles meet on September 20th. UWM has gone 3-0-2 in the last five meetings to hang on to the Cup.
Then it’s back to Horizon League play when UWM takes on Cleveland State in Ohio on September 24th. Then the Panthers host Wright State on September 28th and IUPUI on October 1st.
Then the Panthers hit the road again where they play Northern Illinois in the “LeWang Cup” in a non-conference game on October 5th, which NIU has held the cup since 2017 and then the Panthers play arch-rival UW-Green Bay Phoenix on October 8th.
The Panthers return home to play Detroit Mercy on October 15th before making road trips to Northwestern on October 18th and Northern Kentucky on October 22nd. The final home game will be on October 29th against Oakland, who won the 2021 Horizon League regular season and tournament titles. The regular season concludes on November 2nd with a road trip to play Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Horizon League Tournament gets underway the following week, with the title game set for November 12th.
