The San José State Spartans (8-19, 1-14 MWC) take down the New Mexico Lobos (11-16, 3-10 MWC), 71-55, inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center in San Jose, California for SJSU’s first Mountain West victory this season!
Omari Moore finished with a triple-double, scoring 18 points on 7-for-14 from the field, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in 36 minutes.
Ibrahima Diallo (14), Trey Anderson (13), and Alvaro Cardenas Torre (10) rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Spartans.
SJSU made 30-of-57 (52.6%) from the field, 8-for-20 (40.0%) from 3-point range, but just 3-of-5 (60.0%) at the free throw line with 15 assists and 13 turnovers.
I would like SJSU to get to the free throw line more than five times in a game and the 13 turnovers is too many, that number needs to be at 10-or-less.
It was a big deal to win that game because the Spartans have been playing much better of late and it’s nice to see them be rewarded for it. Hopefully this will build some momentum for the Mountain West Conference Tournament in a few weeks.
The Spartans will hit the road to play the San Diego State Aztecs (17-6, 9-3 MWC) inside Viejas Arena on Friday, February 25th. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM (Pacific Time) and will be nationally televised on FS1.
