UW-Milwaukee Panthers Upset Wright State Raiders

The UW-Milwaukee Panthers (8-18, 6-11 Horizon) shock the Wright State Raiders (15-11, 12-5 Horizon), 60-57, inside UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in downtown Milwaukee.

Have to give UWM credit, they hung tough tonight after that embarrassing performance on Wednesday night. I certainly didn’t see this happening tonight.

UWM shot 24-of-62 (38.7%) from the field, 4-of-13 (30.8%) from 3-point range, but were just 8-for-14 (57.1%) at the free throw line. The Panthers only had five assists as a team, which is not a good number, and committed 10 turnovers. They did have seven blocks, however.

Donovan Newby was huge tonight for Milwaukee, especially in crunch time, and finished with a team-high 15 points and grabbed three rebounds and one assist.

Tafari Simms finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and grabbed a steal.

Up Next:

UW-Milwaukee will welcome their arch-rival the UW-Green Bay Phoenix (4-19, 3-11 Horizon) to UWM Panther Arena on Sunday, February 13th. Tipoff is set for 1:00 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on ESPN+.
