The beat goes on. The dreadful season for the UW-Milwaukee Panthers (7-14, 5-7 Horizon) continues as they were blown out inside the UPMC Events Center, 77-53, by the Robert Morris Colonials (4-16, 2-9 Horizon).
It’s hard to imagine Pat Baldwin Sr. lasting beyond this season barring a drastic turnaround, because there’s no excuse for the team to continue to play like this. They’ve continued to lose to bad teams, they’ve continued to be uncompetitive in most games and there hasn’t been any progress from year one to year five in the Baldwin era and this year they have arguably the most talented roster in the Horizon League!
Tonight, UWM shot 22-for-64 (34.4%) from the field, 1-for-12 (8.3%) from 3-point range and 8-for-15 (53.3%) from the free throw line. The Panthers were out-rebounded 52-36, Robert Morris grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and turned those into 19 second chance points and UWM had just nine assists in the game.
Joey St. Pierre led UWM with nine points. DeAndre Gholston finished with eight points, but struggled shooting the ball again.
It was a very forgettable night for the Panthers. Unfortunately, UW-Milwaukee has had too many of those kinds of nights this year.
The Panthers will travel to Ohio to play the Youngstown State Penguins (11-10, 5-6 Horizon) inside the Beeghly Center on Saturday, January 29th. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on ESPN+.
