Santa Clara Broncos Dominate TCU Horned Frogs

The Santa Clara Broncos (5-0) put an offensive performance tonight in a 85-66 dismantling of the TCU Horned Frogs (3-1) at the JSerra Pavilion in San Juan Capistrano, California in the SoCal Challenge.

It was pure domination by Santa Clara.

This is a team that was projected to finish in sixth place in the West Coast Conference. That’s a joke.

Santa Clara shot 30-of-49 (61.2%) from the field and 11-of-16 (68.8%) from 3-point range and 14-of-18 (77.8%) at the free throw line.

The Broncos were led by Jalen Williams’ 22 points. PJ Pipes (17), Giordan Williams (15) and Keshawn Justice (10) were the other Broncos to score in double-figures.

The one thing I loved from SCU tonight was the ball movement on offense. That hasn’t always been the case over the last 15 years for SCU, but watching the game there were moments tonight where I thought to myself, “Holy cow! This looks like a real team!”

The one thing I really did not like tonight for SCU were the 17 turnovers. That number needs to at 10 or less, preferably less.

The anti-Herb Sendek Broncos fans have been awfully quiet so far this year.

Up Next:

Santa Clara will play Fresno State (3-0) on Wednesday, November 24th in San Juan Capistrano. Tipoff is set for Midnight (Central Time) / 10:00 PM (Pacific Time).
