The UW-Milwaukee Panthers (1-0) get a big road win in the season opener, taking down North Dakota (0-1), 75-60, in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
In one of the most hyped offseason’s since the Bruce Pearl days, the Panthers looked every bit as good as the hype tonight.
The prize recruit, Patrick Baldwin Jr., the son of UWM’s head coach, made things look easy tonight in his collegiate debut. He finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds and an assist. The only negative was he was 2-of-7 from 3-point range.
DeAndre Gholston (14), Donovan Newby (12) and Vin Baker Jr. (11) were the other Panthers to finish in double-figures.
UWM was 23-of-53 (43.4%) from the field, 6-of-15 (40.0%) from 3-point range and 23-of-30 (76.7%) at the free throw line and finished with just eight turnovers.
UW-Milwaukee is good to be a legit Mid Major this season.
UWM will host Eastern Kentucky (1-0) on Saturday, November 13th at UWM Panther Arena in Downtown Milwaukee for UWM’s Homecoming game. Tipoff is set for 6:00 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on ESPN+.
