The Wisconsin Badgers signed three running back recruits in the 2021 recruiting class. Two of them are no longer with the program as of today.
True freshman Antwan Roberts has entered his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Roberts also confirmed the news. This stems from a physical altercation prior to the start of the 2021 season opener with fellow true freshman running back Loyal Crawford, who was dismissed from the team.
UW-Madison police said in a statement that Crawford and Roberts were involved in a physical altercation in a residence hall. UWMP was made aware of the incident on August 22. The incident occurred on the evening of August 21. The department’s investigation revealed that Crawford armed himself with a knife. There were some minor injuries in the altercation, none of which were related to the knife. Crawford was cited for disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct while armed.
Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst suspended Roberts for an unknown duration.
Wisconsin still does have a pair of true freshman as part of their backfield — Jackson Acker, a Verona, WI native and Braelon Allen a Fond du Lac, WI native. Allen was originally a safety, but got moved to the offensive side of the ball prior to fall camp. Allen had seven carries against Eastern Michigan for 30 yards and a touchdown.
