The Milwaukee Brewers (90-57) rallied from a 4-0 deficit to beat rival Chicago Cubs (66-82) tonight at American Family Field, 8-5.
Cole Hamels was right a few years ago. This isn’t a rivalry. The Cubs are a joke. They epitomize Chicago sports (outside of the White Sox). And I love seeing unhappy Cubs fans at American Family Field.
The Brewers have won 10 straight games against the Cubs in 2021. It’s only the second time in franchise history they have had a double-digit winning streak against a single opponent in the same season. Milwaukee beat the Pirates 12 straight games in 2008.
Kolten Wong, who’s been so big and clutch for Milwaukee this season, hit a two RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give the Crew a 7-5 lead.
You knew Kolten Wong was going to be an upgrade, but could anyone have imagined how clutch he was going to be? He’s been incredible all year long. Incredible offseason pickup.
The one offseason move I’m beyond disappointed in is the Jackie Bradley Jr. addition. JBJ is a great guy and an awesome defender, but he’s an absolute black hole in the lineup.
Milwaukee’s magic number to win the NL Central is now at 4. The magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 3.
Side Note: Looks like the target date for Willy Adames to return is Monday.
The Brewers and Cubs will square off again tomorrow night from American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on Fox.
Corbin Burnes (10-4, 2.25 ERA) will start for Milwaukee.
Justin Steele (3-3, 4.17 ERA) will start for the Chicago Cubs.
