The Milwaukee Brewers (67-46) take down rival Chicago Cubs (52-62), 4-2, this afternoon in game one of the doubleheader today at Wrigley Field.
Milwaukee has now won 10 of the first 13 games against the Cubs this season.
I know it’s baseball, and even horrible teams can rise up and win. But the Cubs are just bankrupt. There’s no reason why the Brewers shouldn’t take all four games.
Freddy Peralta went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits, two walks and eight strikeouts.
Peralta had a bases loaded walk in the Bottom of the Third to allow the Cubs to take a 1-0 lead. But in the Top of the Fourth Willy Adames hit a solo home run to tie it and Avisail Garcia hit a 2-run homer to give the Brewers a 3-1 lead.
Devin Williams was in hot water in the Bottom of the Seventh, but had two strikeouts to end the game. Williams gives me ulcers.
The Brewers and Cubs will play again tonight at 7:05 PM (Central Time).
Aaron Ashby (0-0, 54.00 ERA) will get the start for Milwaukee.
Alec Mills (5-4, 4.41 ERA) will get the start for the Chicago Cubs.
