Tonight is a tough pill to swallow for the Milwaukee Brewers (66-45) as they gift the San Francisco Giants (70-41) a 9-6 win in 11 Innings at American Family Field.
The Brewers were the better team tonight as they held a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning. The Brewers even had two outs in the Top of the Ninth. And then Avisail Garcia couldn’t make a routine play at the wall, which allowed the Giants to tie the game.
That play by Garcia reminded me of Brant Brown in 1998, except Brown didn’t stumble that much. Garcia looked like 2 AM on Water Street.
I can’t fathom changing that from an error to a hit. What, because he butchered it so bad that he didn’t get a glove on it? And after all the vulturing Brent Suter has done, he gets stuck with an earned run and a blown save.
Tough to say much else about the game other than a frustrating result and Milwaukee should have won in regulation.
The Brewers and Giants will play the series finale tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM (Central Time).
