Another pathetic start to a series for the Milwaukee Bucks. Some players and coaches slept walked through this game.
The Atlanta Hawks took down the Milwaukee Bucks, 116-113, tonight in Game 1 inside the Fiserv Forum in the Eastern Conference Finals.
You have to come out of the gates ready to play in Game 1 at home. This is for a trip to NBA Finals. Now you’re down 0-1.
I’m sure glad that the Bucks gave Khris Middleton a max-contract in 2019 so he could shoot 6-of-23 from the field and 0-of-9 from 3-point range in the Eastern Conference Finals, at home no less!!!
As I’ve mentioned many times before, Middleton isn’t worth the max-contract and he can’t maintain consistency when the regular season ends. He pulls a disappearing act all the time in the playoffs.
My gripe with Mike Budenholzer tonight is treating this like a regular season game and playing Jeff Teague for six minutes in the first half tonight and basically gave Atlanta 10 free points. I would have thought that Bud would have learned from the Brooklyn series that Teague is unplayable in the playoffs.
It’s going to be a full presser of Bud saying “We gotta be better.” Bucks, if you’re reading this, please fire this man.
Mentality of the Bud era tonight. Never show up until you need to and then still fall up short.
The fact that I still think the Milwaukee Bucks will win this series doesn’t erase the fact that this team and their head coach is stupid as hell.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday both played really good games.
Antetokounmpo finished with 34 points on 14-of-25 from the field, 12 rebounds and nine assists in 41 minutes.
Holiday finished with 33 points on 14-of-25 from the field (5-of-12 from 3) with 10 assists and four rebounds in 42 minutes.
Trae Young went for 48 points on 17-of-34 from the field and had 11 assists in 41 minutes to lead Atlanta to their third Game 1 road win in these playoffs.
Milwaukee as a team shot 47-of-102 (46.1%) from the field, 8-of-36 (22.2%) from 3-point range and 11-of-14 (78.6%) at the free throw line.
The Hawks outrebounded the Bucks 51-45 tonight. Both teams grabbed 12 offensive rebounds, but it was the Hawks that grabbed several of them down the stretch to take the lead.
I’ll give you a welfare check on me:
I’m pissed. The Bucks responded to a throwaway comment on First Take and couldn’t respond to the Atlanta Hawks. This is an organization that punishes you for rooting for them and being invested in them. They don’t deserve us, but we will never leave them.
Trae and Collins had the confidence to execute some BS they ran in practice because we sucked so much. The Fiserv crowd was an embarrassment tonight. We choked against the Raptors and we are choking now. We have to admit it before we can improve.
Game 2 in the series will be Friday, June 25 from the Fiserv Forum. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM and will be televised on TNT.
