The University of Wisconsin has made it official. Chris McIntosh will be the new Athletic Director beginning July 1, succeeding Barry Alvarez who’s retiring at the end of June.
“I owe so much to the University of Wisconsin, and I’m deeply honored to be able to succeed Barry Alvarez,” McIntosh said. “We will build upon our legacy of success on the field of competition and support our student-athletes in the classroom, on campus and after college.”
McIntosh got emotional during his press conference in talking about what Barry Alvarez meant to him and to Wisconsin.
Here’s a statement from Barry Alvarez:
I think this is a great hire, keeping it within the family.
McIntosh understands how things are ran at Wisconsin and he learned from one of the best.
