One, two, three … Cancún for the “Heat Culture.”
The Milwaukee Bucks are advancing to the Second Round of the NBA Playoffs after finishing off the sweep of the Miami Heat with a 120-103 Game 4 win this afternoon.
Where’s my dustpan at?!
Giannis Antetokounmpo had a heck of a game drawing defenders and kicking it to open shooters. Guys were knocking down shots in the second half. Pick your poison. It was a clinic the Greek Freak put on.
Giannis had 20 points (with most coming in second half), 12 rebounds and 15 assists and was a +21.
Brook Lopez had a heck of a game, and series for that matter, scoring 25 points without attempting a 3-pointer.
Bryn Forbes continues to be a flamethrower, scoring 22 points on 7-of-14 from 3-point range.
Milwaukee didn’t look good in the first half, but they were able to stay in range. Then the Bucks took over in the third quarter, took their first lead and never looked back.
Giannis Antetokounmpo postgame said: “There’s a saying, don’t play with your food. We didn’t want to play with our food.”
Milwaukee put themselves in a position to take every blow that Miami gave them and respond.
Mike Budenholzer postgame said: “We’ve got a long ways to go. There’s got to be a humility, humbleness, mindset and attitude to get better. Whoever we play next, we’ve got to have a similar focus, edge, willingness to play together. It means nothing if we don’t keep doing it going forward.”
We’ll see how he does going forward, but I thought Bud coached a pretty good series. That’s a start.
For me, the player of the series is Brook Lopez. Absolutely dominant on the defensive end and influential on the offensive end with timely baskets in the paint. Monstrous impact from Lopez all four games.
The “Locked On Heat” podcast guy previewed this series before it started by laughing at the idea that the Bucks have a “Big 3” and doing an entire episode on how the Heat have a “Big 3” with Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic.
No further listening was required from me.
Jimmy Butler had a rough series after talking a lot without backing it up. He will probably retire to become a barista full time.
The Bucks await their Second Round opponent. Milwaukee will play the winner of the Boston Celtics/Brooklyn Nets series. Brooklyn leads the series 2-1, with game 4 being tomorrow night and game 5 being on Tuesday.
Let’s go Boston!!!
