The Milwaukee Brewers (19-17) waste a phenomenal start from Freddy Peralta tonight in a 6-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals (22-14) in 11 innings.
Freddy Peralta pitched seven magnificent innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out eight and allowing zero runs.
The offense, once again, wasn’t able to help the pitching staff out tonight. The Brewers were 1-of-15 with runners in scoring position, leaving 12 men on base.
Kolten Wong and Travis Shaw each went 2-for-4 with a walk. Lorenzo Cain and Pablo Reyes got the other two hits for Milwaukee.
It’s been painful watching this offense the past two seasons. I’m curious if Dale Svuem has an itch to return to Milwaukee to join the staff as the hitting coach or special assistant/consultant.
The Brewers and Cardinals will play game two of the three-game series tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:40 PM (Central Time).
Brandon Woodruff (2-1, 1.73 ERA) will start for Milwaukee.
John Gant (2-3, 2.15 ERA) will start for St. Louis.
The Brewers will probably get a gem from Woodruff only to have it wasted….
