Due to everything that happened with Tyler Herro, the Wisconsin Badgers didn’t get a chance to actively pursue Gabe Kalscheur, a Minnesota native in the 2018 class chose to stay home to play for the Golden Gophers.
Kalscheur is currently in the transfer portal after Richard Pitino was fired and according to the Des Moines Register, the UW staff has been reaching out to Kalscheur.
Kalscheur was a three year starter under Pitino at Minnesota, starting 88 games. After averaging in double figures his first two seasons, Kalscheur struggled offensively this past season (2020-21), averaging 9.2 points per game on 31.6 percent from the field, and just 24.5 percent from 3-point range. However, during his true freshman season (2018-19) he shot 41 percent from 3-point range and as a sophomore (2019-20) shot 34.1 percent from beyond the arc.
