The No. 21 Wisconsin Badgers (15-8, 9-7) are looking to snap their two-game losing streak today against the Northwestern Wildcats (6-13, 3-12) in Evanston, Illinois.
Tip-off for the game today is at 6:00 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on the Big Ten Network (BTN).
The Badgers won the first meeting in Madison on January 20, 68-52, in a game that was really never in doubt with UW leading by as many as 21. UW has won the last five meetings in the series against Northwestern and Greg Gard is 6-3 against the Wildcats in his 6th season.
A win today would give UW their 10th Big Ten Conference victory on the season, which would mark the 18th time in the last 20 seasons in which they’ve recorded double-digit wins in the conference regular season — the only Big Ten team who can make that claim.
Will the Badgers get back in the win column and snap their 2-game losing streak? Or will the Wildcats snap their 12-game losing streak?
All-Time Series: Wisconsin leads 120-65
Spread For Today’s Game: Wisconsin -6 (per Bovada)
Projected Starting Lineups:
G – Boo Buie
G – Chase Audige
F – Miller Kopp
F – Pete Nance
F – Ryan Young
G – D’Mitrik Trice
G – Brad Davison
F – Aleem Ford
F – Tyler Wahl
F – Nate Reuvers
I wouldn’t be surprised if Greg Gard returns to his “bigger” lineup with Nate Reuvers and Micah Potter starting to try and jumpstart the struggling offense.
I’m sensing a Wisconsin team that’s irritated with a string of frustrating losses of late. UW knows they haven’t lived up to the preseason hype or even their own expectations.
Northwestern can be the perfect slump buster. The Wildcats haven’t rolled over during their losing streak, however. They’ve been very competitive in most games.
In the first meeting in January, UW pretty much had their way on both ends of the court, but in particular the defensive end. The Wildcats shots 41.2 percent in that game and only had 22 points in the paint and didn’t have a player give UW any fits.
The Badgers bounce back and control this game for most of the way.
Wisconsin 67, Northwestern 59.
