The UW-Milwaukee Panthers (7-10, 6-9) lost both games this weekend in the two-game series against Wright State (17-4, 15-3).
Last night Wright State won 92-81 and this afternoon they won 92-82.
The UWM defense is atrocious and has been all season, there’s no nice way to say it.
The Panthers defensive ranking on KenPom is ranked No. 259 (out of 349 division 1 teams playing this season). To be clear, that’s not good!
The offense played well in both games and today only had six turnovers. When you score 80-plus points and have single digit turnovers, you should win that game….but not with the defensive effort UWM continues to put out.
Josh Thomas led UWM with 24 points and DeAndre Gholston added 20. Te’Jon Lucas had 13 and Tafari Simms had 12.
The Panthers have two games left in the regular season before the Horizon League Tournament begins in February 25.
UWM will host the Oakland Grizzlies (9-16, 9-9) on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20, with both games inside the Klotsche Center.
Friday’s game is set for 5:00 PM (Central Time) and Saturday’s tip-off is set for 4:00 PM (Central Time). Both games will be televised on ESPN3.
