Houston Texans Release J.J. Watt

The Houston Texans granted J.J. Watt’s request and released the face of the franchise this morning.

Watt was the No. 11 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times from 2012 to 2015. J.J. is one of three players all time to win that award three times.

Watt did a video on Twitter today sending a message to the Houston fans that you can see here.

Watt is coming off just his second full 16-game season since 2015, as he’s dealt with several season ending injuries during that span.

I’d absolutely love Brian Gutekunst to get this done and bring J.J. Watt home to be a Green Bay Packer.

Watt is a Pewaukee native (along with his brothers T.J. and Derek who play for Pittsburgh). All three of them played for the Wisconsin Badgers.

CBS Sports listed five possible landing spots for Watt: Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Dallas and Baltimore.

The news is exciting for Packers fans. However, I feel he’s going to join his brothers in Pittsburgh. It’s tough to pass up that opportunity. Which makes drafting Kevin King over T.J. Watt even dumber. It has now potentially cost you J.J. Watt. (Pain).
