The University of Wisconsin Badgers football team gets a commitment from preferred walk-on kicker, Nate Van Zelst.
Van Zelst is the lone kicker in the 2021 recruiting class. He joins senior Collin Larsh and sophomore Jack Van Dyke in Wisconsin’s kicking room.
Larsh was the primary field goal kicker for UW in 2020, finishing 5-for-7 (71.4%) on the season, with both missing coming from beyond 40 yards. Van Dyke, who primarily did kickoff duties, went 0-for-1 in field goal attempts with the try coming from beyond 40 yards.
Wisconsin has the punting duties under control with Andy Vujnovich, who will be a senior during the 2021 season.
“I couldn’t be more excited for an amazing opportunity,” Van Zelst said. “The first time I went on campus was sophomore year of summer. As soon as I got on campus I felt right at home and I saw how special Madison was. Hearing those words, I felt blessed.”
