UW-Milwaukee Defeats IUPUI in Indy

The UW-Milwaukee Panthers (7-6, 6-5) avenged their loss from yesterday and beat the IUPUI Jaguars (4-7, 3-7) this afternoon in Indianapolis, 83-76.

The Panthers had four players in double figures today, led by DeAndre Gholston’s 24 points. Te’Jon Lucas had 14, C.J. Wilbourn added 11 and Donovan Newby scored 10 points.

The Panthers got off to a slow start offensively, only shooting 33.3 percent in the first 20 minutes, but then came alive in the second half shooting 66.7 percent in the final 20 minutes. For the game, UWM shot 28-of-57 (49.1%) from the field, 6-of-19 (31.6%) from 3-point range and 21-of-27 (77.8%) from the free throw line.

The Panthers had 15 assists on the 28 made baskets and had 10 turnovers.

UWM will host the Northern Kentucky Norse (8-8, 6-5) inside the Klotsche Center next weekend, February 5th and 6th. Friday’s game will tip-off at 5:00 PM (Central Time) and Saturday’s game will tip-off at 2:00 PM (Central Time). Both games will be televised on ESPN3.
