The Milwaukee Bucks (11-7) came out uninspired in a 131-126 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans (7-10) inside Smoothie King Center tonight.
New Orleans built a 29-point lead at one point and led 68-45 at halftime.
Eric Bledsoe and Lonzo Ball each hit seven 3-pointers. The Pelicans had 21 3-pointers as a team which tied a franchise record for most made in a single game.
Mike Budenholzer said postgame: “They were the more aggressive team and we just didn’t match it. We didn’t screen well enough. We didn’t drive it well enough. They were a problem on their offensive boards. They played well and we didn’t play well in the first half.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 38 points on 15-of-27 shooting, including going 6-of-7 at the free throw line on top of grabbing 11 rebounds.
Jrue Holiday scored 22, while Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton each added 16 respectively and Donte DiVincenzo scored 10 points.
The Pelicans, however, had four players score 21 or more points. Brandon Ingram scored 28, Lonzo Ball scored 27, Eric Bledsoe had 25 and Zion Williamson had 21. Steven Adams had 20 rebounds to go along with the 20’s numbers for the Pelicans.
The Milwaukee Bucks will play on the road in North Carolina tomorrow against the Charlotte Hornets (8-11). Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM (Central Time).
