The University of Wisconsin football team will reportedly be looking for a new quarterback coach.
According to FootballScoop.com, Colorado State is set to make Jon Budmayr their new offensive coordinator.
Budmayr has been the UW quarterbacks coach since 2018, though he has been on Paul Chryst’s staff in Madison in some capacity since 2015. He was also a graduate assistant under Chryst at Pittsburgh in 2014.
Budmayr, an Illinois native, came to Wisconsin as a 3-star quarterback recruit in 2009. Injuries derailed his career early on and he eventually became a student assistant coach in 2012 and 2013.
One potential replacement for UW would be former Badgers quarterback Scott Tolzien. Tolzien spent this past season with the Dallas Cowboys as an assistant coach, but in 2019 he was with UW in a support role breaking down film on a week-to-week basis.
Tolzien led the Badgers to the Big Ten Title in 2010 before going on to a six-year NFL career.
