The 14th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers (13-4, 7-3) get a measure of revenge, beating the Maryland Terrapins (9-8, 3-7), 61-55.
The Badgers led 38-20 at halftime after a dominating first 20 minutes. But UW came out cold shooting to start the second half to go along with Maryland starting to hit some shots offensively.
Maryland cut the UW lead to 43-40 with 11:44 remaining in the game, but Wisconsin responded with a 14-2 run over the next 4:40 to take a 57-42 lead.
It’s a good thing the UW defense came to play tonight because the UW offense went the final 7:04 without a field goal and still managed to win the game, in large part because of the defense.
Micah Potter led UW with 23 points with 12 rebounds in 23 minutes and was a +14. D’Mitrik Trice was the only other Badger in double figures with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Wisconsin travels to University Park, Pennsylvania to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions (5-7, 2-6) on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on Big Ten Network (BTN).
