The UW-Milwaukee Panthers came into tonight’s game playing well this year, but the defense let them down in a 81-72 loss to the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons inside the Klotsche Center.
The loss puts UWM at 5-3 overall and 4-2 in Horizon League play. Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 5-5 overall and 4-5 in Horizon League play.
Purdue Fort Wayne was led by Jarred Godfrey’s 23 points and shot 53.4 percent from the field as a team.
UW-Milwaukee shot 26-of-67 (38.8%) from the field, 8-of-29 (27.6%) from 3-point range and 12-of-16 (75.0%) from the free throw line.
Te’Jon Lucas has a rough night tonight, going 1-for-11 from the field and 1-for-4 from 3-point range for 5 points.
DeAndre Gholston led UWM with 16 points and Josh Thomas added 13 points.
The two programs will meet once again tomorrow night, January 16, inside the Klotsche Center. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM (Central Time) and will be televised on ESPN+.
