The San Jose State University Women’s Basketball team has canceled the remainder of the 2020-21 basketball season.
The decision was due to “health and safety concerns stemming from COVID-19.”
The season opened up with a 56-48 road victory over the California Golden Bears on November 25, but, unfortunately SJSU would only play three more games the rest of the way.
The women’s program did have to pause activities due to covid issues within the program on two different occasions.
The SJSU Women’s Basketball program finishes the season with a 2-2 overall record and a 1-2 record in Mountain West Conference play.
The only bright side of canceling the rest of this season is now the program will have plenty of time to prepare for the 2021-22 campaign.
The University did say that this decision does not affect the other SJSU athletic programs that are currently in season or prepping for their respective season to begin.
