The UW-Milwaukee Panthers used a 19-0 run in the second to pull away from IUPUI and eventually winning 94-70 inside the Klotsche Center on the UWM campus this afternoon in the first home game for the Panthers.
The victory puts Milwaukee at 4-2 overall and 3-1 in Horizon League play, while IUPUI drops to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in Horizon League.
Milwaukee was 31-of-59 (52.5%) from the field, 13-of-23 (56.5%) from 3-point range and 19-of-24 (79.2%) at the free throw line. UWM also had 19 assists but 12 turnovers.
IUPUI shot 25-of-60 (41.7%) from the field, 8-of-27 (29.6%) from 3-point range and 12-of-19 (63.2%) from the free throw line and had just 10 assists to 13 turnovers.
Tafari Simms had a game-high 32 points for UWM. DeAndre Gholston and Te’Jon Lucas also scored in double-figures for the Panthers with 15 and 14 points respectively.
UWM’s bench outscored IUPUI’s bench 41-18 in the game which was a huge factor.
Milwaukee and IUPUI will play again tomorrow inside the Klotsche Center. Tip-off is set for 11:00 AM (Central Time) and will be televised on ESPN3.
