The new look Milwaukee Bucks did not get the 2020-21 season off to a good start tonight inside the TD Garden against the Boston Celtics.
Jayson Tatum hit a step-back 3-pointer that banked in with 0.4 seconds left. Giannis Antetokounmpo played great defense on Tatum, just a lucky shot that had no business going in.
After a Milwaukee timeout to set up the final play, Giannis Antetokounmpo was fouled and awarded two free throws with 0.4 on the clock, trailing 122-120. He hit the first, but missed the second, Bucks lose 122-121.
The Bucks trailed by 17 entering the fourth quarter, but a 31-12 run gave Milwaukee their first lead since the first half at 115-113 with 3:26 left. The two teams traded baskets, with new addition Jrue Holiday hitting a 3-pointer to give the Bucks the 120-119 lead before Tatum’s miracle shot.
Antetokounmpo finished with 35 points, 13 rebounds and two assists. But also committed five fouls (four offensive) and had seven turnovers.
