The San Jose State Spartans men’s basketball team opens up the 2020-21 season inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center this afternoon. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM (CT) / 2:00 PM (PT) against the Simpson University Red Hawks.
Due to the COVID-19 regulations by Santa Clara County, there won’t be any fans in the stands.
Todd Franklin is in his fourth season at the helm of Simpson’s basketball program. The Red Hawks are coming off a 15-7 season in 2019-20. They averaged 75.9 points and a plus-6.9 rebounding margin last season. Simpson returns their best player, Nathan Presnell, who shot 52.2 percent from the floor and averaged 6.9 rebounds per game a season ago.
San Jose State returns their top two scorers from 2019-20 in Seneca Knight and Richard Washington. Knight led SJSU averaging 17.1 points per game and Washington averaged 10.3 points per game.
