Maccabi Tel Aviv Loses A Heatbreaker To Valencia, 82-80

Maccabi Tel Aviv lost a heartbreaker on the road to Valencia today.

Maccabi had a 77-70 lead with just over two minutes remaining and a 79-73 lead with about a minute and a half left.

Maccabi Tel Aviv then held a 80-77 lead before Derrick Williams hit a three-pointer for Valencia to tie the game at 80-80 with 7.6 seconds remaining.

Maccabi Tel Aviv called timeout and had the ball advanced to half court to draw up a potential game winning shot. Tel Aviv got the ball in Scottie Wilbekin’s hands, but Bojan Dubljevic picked Wilbekin’s pocket for the steal and passed ahead to Sam Van Rossom for ultimately the game-winning uncontested layup with 3 seconds left.

Wilbekin missed a desperation 60-foot heave to end the game.

Tel Aviv falls to 3-7 in EuroLeague play.

Angelo Caloiaro played 34 minutes, scoring 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-for-5 from 3-point range), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.
