The San Jose State Spartans football team took down the San Diego State Aztecs tonight in Carson, California by a final of 28-17.
San Diego State took a 10-0 lead, before the Spartans scored 28 of the final 35 points.
The win puts San Jose State at 3-0 on the season, it’s the program’s first 3-0 start since 1982.
SJSU quarterback Nick Starkel left the game during the first possession due to an undisclosed injury, but sophomore Nick Nash rallied the troops.
Nash completed 16-of-25 passes for 169 yards with two touchdown passes, one interception, ran for 53 yards and had a rushing touchdown.
The SJSU defense played really well, forcing three turnovers. They had a big interception late in the game when leading 21-17. The defense also did well in slowing down the SDSU running game.
SJSU also played a relatively clean game, only having two penalties for 15 yards.
San Jose State returns home next week where they’ll host the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels inside CEFCU Stadium on Saturday, November 14. Kickoff is set for 9:30 PM (CT) / 7:30 PM (PT) and will be televised on FS2.
