Maccabi Tel Aviv dropped a home matchup with Fenerbahce today, 75-65.
Tel Aviv looked good for the first two and a half quarters and then they weren’t able to overcome a brutal foul call that went against Maccabi with 0.9 seconds left in the third quarter on a desperation shot from half court to end the quarter, there was no contact on the play, yet Fenerbahce was awarded three free throws. All three free throws were made and Maccabi Tel Aviv was trailing 56-54 entering the fourth quarter.
Maccabi Tel Aviv just wasn’t able to overcome that foul call as they were outscored 19-11 in the fourth quarter. Forced shots, early shots in the shot clock and turnovers were killer.
Angelo Caloiaro played 33 minutes, scoring 2 points on 1-of-3 shooting and 2 rebounds.
Maccabi Tel Aviv went 5-of-26 (19.2%) from three point range and 10-of-15 (66.7%) from the free throw line.
The loss drops Maccabi Tel Aviv to 2-4 in EuroLeague play.
Tel Aviv plays Maccabi Rishon Lezion in the Israel League Cup Semi-Final on Sunday at 1:00 PM (CT).
