Second Test Confirms Graham Mertz Has Coronavirus

Graham Mertz’s second test to confirm his COVID-19 diagnosis is back and it’s not good news. The test confirmed the positive test. Mertz has to sit out for 21 days.

Making the news worse, it was reported yesterday that Chase Wolf also reportedly tested positive. His second test to confirm had not yet been reported.

With Mertz out and possibly Wolf, and regular starter Jack Coan still recovering from foot surgery. Danny Vanden Boom, the fourth string quarterback to start the season, will get the start. True freshman Daniel Wright would be Vanden Boom’s backup and Garrett Groshek would be the emergency quarterback.

The ninth-ranked Badgers (1-0) travel to Lincoln to play Nebraska (0-1) on Saturday.
