The Wisconsin Badgers’ 2020 season opener will be under the Friday night lights at Camp Randall Stadium.
The Big Ten announced today that the Badgers matchup with Illinois will come Friday, October 23 with the kickoff being at 7:00 PM (CT). The game will be televised on Big Ten Network (BTN).
It will be the fourth straight season Wisconsin has opened on a Friday night. UW has won the last three, getting victories at home against Utah State and Western Kentucky in 2017 and 2018 respectively and then on the road at South Florida in 2019.
The game will mark the first time since 1982 that the Badgers will open the season against a Big Ten team and the first since 1981 to do so at home. Obviously, this year will be different, as there will be no fans in the stands due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Illinois was the only Big Ten West team to defeat the Badgers in 2019, as the Fighting Illini pulled off a monumental upset over the sixth-ranked Badgers in Champaign. Running Back Nakia Watson told reporters, “Illinois definitely deserves a butt whooping from last year.”
