A Second Conference Announces Cancellation Of Fall Sports

On July 8th the Ivy League cancelled fall athletic competition. Today, the Patriot League followed suit and cancelled fall athletic competition.

The Patriot League will make a decision on winter sports at a later date. The League will also explore the possibility of playing football in the spring.

The Patriot League is the first conference that participates in the FCS playoffs to shut down the football season.

The ACC also announced today that it is postponing its virtual ACC Football Kickoff media event until further notice.

A few weeks ago many signs pointed towards college football starting on time and with a normal schedule.

Now, after two conferences (FCS) announces a cancellation of their fall athletic seasons and several Division 1-A (FBS) conferences move to a conference-only schedule, there’s suddenly more and more questions on whether there’ll be a season or not in the fall.
