NBA Update, Kyrie Speaks Out

Players have the right to do as they choose. However, the economics on not playing would be devastating:

  • $1.2 Billion in lost player salary (35% of total pay)
  • NBA now having leverage to tear up the CBA and negotiate a new one
  • $2 Billion in lost revenue

There was a conference call tonight with 80 or so players and Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony were vocal.

Kyrie said: “I don’t support going to Orlando. I’m not with the systematic racism and the bulls***. Something smells fishy.”

Terrance Ross tweeted out a simple request:

  • Donovan Mitchell, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard among others spoke out about possibly sitting out due to social/COVID-19 issues.
  • Supposedly the conference call lasted two hours and over an hour of it was dedicated to social justice reform. While some were concerned with COVID, racial justice is the No. 1 talking point.
  • If the NBA plan falls through, Walt Disney World said “We’ll turn our focus to taking care of the MLS and our non-sport guests. We’ll move on and continue preparing for our reopening next month, as well many exciting new offerings coming next year.”
  • My thoughts on this whole situation:
  • I’m less optimistic than I have been in weeks. That said, I think we still see the season finish. Does everyone play? That part I’m not sure of.

To be completely honest though, I could be completely way off on all of it. I don’t know what to think anymore.

    I hate 2020.
