Will Ryan to coach UWGB

Will Ryan is expected to be named as the new head coach at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Ryan was the head coach at Wheeling University in West Virginia this past season, his first head coaching gig. Will Ryan is the oldest son of former Wisconsin coach and College Basketball Hall of Famer Bo Ryan. Ryan will be the eighth Coach in UWGB program history.

Not only does Bo Ryan remain popular among basketball fans in the state of Wisconsin, Will Ryan has ties to the state. Will Ryan played college basketball at UW-Platteville and UW-Milwaukee and started his coaching career as an assistant with the Badgers. All three stops were under his dad Bo.

Will Ryan got the Wheeling University job in July last year and put together a team that was predicted to finish in last place in the Mountain East Conference. Wheeling ended up finishing 14-13 overall and in fifth place in the conference in 2019-20.

UW-Green Bay will begin the 2020-21 campaign on November 10th on the road at Oklahoma State.
