Blake Wilcox joined the Wisconsin Badgers football program as a decorated punter and kicker as a preferred walk-on in 2019 and redshirted.
Wilcox took a leave of absence in January right after the beginning of the winter workouts. Wilcox was on the spring roster.
UW officials haven’t publicly commented on the reasons why Wilcox isn’t being asked back for 2020. They only stated today that he’s not expected to be on the team in 2020.
It’s likely that the UW staff didn’t think Wilcox would return when Wilcox was on his leave of absence from the program.
Wisconsin will have at least three punters on the 2020 roster. Redshirt Junior Conor Schlichting, redshirt Junior Andy Vujnovich and freshman Gavin Meyers.
The Badgers also signed Kicker Jack Van Dyke in the 2020 class as a preferred walk-on.
Shocker! Everyone jumping ship!
