I hope you remember the Wisconsin vs BYU National Championship Game as well as I do. It was probably the biggest night in Wisconsin men’s basketball program history.
Wisconsin’s journey to the Final Four included an opening round win over North Texas, then a round of 32 win over Liberty to advance to the Sweet 16. With a chance to advance to the Elite 8, the Badgers took down Marquette to remind the Golden Eagles who the big brother is in the state. UW finally gets revenge from the fixed 2015 title game and defeated Duke to advance to the Final Four.
In the Final Four showdown, the Badgers took down fellow Big Ten foe, Maryland.
Two nights later, UW took down the BYU Cougars for the program’s first National Title since 1941! Nate Reuvers led the Badgers win 16 points against BYU. I know you remember this vividly, because this all happened….in real life.
Who cares if this was all in ESPN’s simulated tournament that they posted this morning, HANG THAT BANNER BABY!!! Important note: no one has to quarantine because Coronavirus doesn’t exist in this simulation. When the clock hit all zero’s, that set off a wild celebration on State Street, the type of mob scene befitting a program’s first title in 79 years.
