The Big Ten Conference announced this afternoon that Greg Gard was the selection this season for Coach of the Year in the Big Ten. Gard led UW to a 21-10 overall and 14-6 B1G record and the 1 seed in this weeks conference tournament.
Gard is now 101-57 overall at UW and in his career. He is the second fastest UW coach to 100 wins (157 games) in the NCAA Tournament era. The only coach that did it faster was Bo Ryan who needed 138 games to reach 100 wins. Gard’s .624 Big Ten winning percentage ranks sixth best among Big Ten coaches in the last 40 years.
Gard deserves the honors, he has had to lead the program through a lot since May of 2019 and seemingly, against all odds, led the Badgers to the Big Ten regular season title.
