The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers men’s basketball team had an impressive win tonight over the Illinois-Chicago Flames at Credit Union 1 Arena, 74-57.
Three players scored in double figures for UWM, and the Panthers held UIC to 36.2 percent shooting from the field and 12 points below their season scoring average.
Darius Roy led UWM with 18 points, making four 3-pointers, seven assists and four rebounds. Josh Thomas and Te’Jon Lucas each finished with 15 points.
“Our defense was our catalyst tonight and we talk about that all the time, even if the shots aren’t falling,” UWM head coach Pat Baldwin said. “We have to play defense and our guys really did a great job.”
“The first five minutes of the second half were really important to get off to a great start, especially defensively,” Baldwin added. “Our guys did a great job maintaining the (halftime) lead and picking up this win.”
The win puts UWM at 11-13 overall and 6-6 in Horizon League play. The Panthers travel to Indianapolis to play IUPUI on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 11:00 AM (CT) and will be aired on ESPN+.
