A listless effort doomed Wisconsin tonight in a 70-51 loss on the road at Purdue.
UW scored 15 points in the first half, their fewest in a single half since putting up 14 points in the first half last season against Minnesota. But that wasn’t the most staggering number.
The Badgers allowed 16 offensive rebounds which turned into 19 second-chance points for Purdue. The 16 offensive rebounds were the most UW has given up since 2017. Wisconsin had 16 rebounds in the entire game.
Wisconsin was down 18-points at halftime because they couldn’t get anything going on the offensive end. UW went 0-for-8 from 3-point range in the first half and it was at one point 0-for-11 in the game before the first one was made to finish 7-for-22 for the game. The 7-for-14 from beyond the arc in the second half wasn’t nearly enough to overcome Purdue shooting 55.2 percent from the floor in the second half.
D’Mitrik Trice and Micah Potter each had 11 points while Nate Reuvers added 10 points.
Wisconsin falls to 12-8 overall and 5-4 in Big Ten play with the loss.
The Badgers will travel to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes (14-5, 5-3) on Monday night. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm (CT) and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
