For the first time since since 2012 season, the Wisconsin Badgers are heading to the Rose Bowl.
It was announced this afternoon that the committee selected the Badgers over Penn State to play in Pasadena.
The No. 8 Wisconsin Badgers finished ahead of No. 10 Penn State in the final College Football Playoff rankings, though that didn’t necessarily secure a bid. But at 10-3, Big Ten West champions and with top-25 wins over Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa and Michigan State, Wisconsin was able to overcome two losses to unbeaten Ohio State and Illinois on the road.
All that means is that the Badgers are going back to Pasadena for the 10th time in school history where they’ll play No. 6 Oregon.
This will be the second matchup between these two schools in the Rose Bowl. They also played in the Rose Bowl following the 2011 season in a track meet that saw the Ducks outlast Russell Wilson led Badgers, 45-38. Wisconsin leads the all-time series 3-2.
The Badgers have actually lost their last three Rose Bowl games, falling to TCU (2011), Oregon (2012), and Stanford (2013).
