Badgers fall to NC State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

The Badgers fell to NC State 79-64 in Raleigh in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge that left the Badgers with a 4-4 record through eight games.

Despite struggling with turnovers and a slow start offensively, UW led 30-29 before Markell Johnson banked in a three-pointer from half court to end the first half. The Badgers wouldn’t lead again, as the Wolf Pack used a 19-8 run to open the second half.

Junior Aleem Ford led Wisconsin with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Junior Kobe King added 11 points and freshman Tyler Wahl gave UW some good minutes off the bench with 5 points and 8 rebounds before battling foul trouble.

Outside shooting was an issue for UW for the third game in a row. The Badgers went 5-for-23 (22.7 %) from 3-point range and are now 18-for-76 (18.4 %) in the last three games. Tonight was the first time all season where the Badgers weren’t good from the free throw line, finishing 7-for-15 (46.7 %).

NC State was led by Jericole Hellems career-High 21 points and CJ Bryce had 11 points off the bench. NC State shot 48.2 percent from the field, which was without a doubt the best any team has shot against the Badgers this season.
