Playing their best game of the season, SJSU led Boise State 34-31 entering the fourth quarter. Ultimately, Boise State wore down the Spartans defense and came away with a 52-42 win at CEFCU Stadium last night.
SJSU quarterback Josh Love threw for 438 yards and had three total touchdowns.
“What a game,” SJSU Head Coach Brent Brennan said. “There were moments in the game when I felt like we had a real chance to get it done. It was a battle for both teams.”
SJSU was able to get a touchdown and a two-point conversion to cut Boise State’s lead down to 45-42 with 3:56 left and SJSU having all three timeouts remaining. The Spartans then attempted an onside kick which was a very questionable decision. Boise State ended up getting two first downs and added a game clinching touchdown.
San Jose State (4-5, 1-4) will play on the road at Hawaii on Saturday, November 9. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm (HT) at Aloha Stadium.
