The San Jose State Spartans (2-2, 0-1 MWC) traveled to Colorado Springs to take on Air Force a week after the program’s historic. The game started out very similar to SJSU’s wins over Northern Colorado and Arkansas. The Spartans took the opening kick off, marched down the field and scored a touchdown.
After that, Air Force (3-1, 1-1 MWC) took over the game, rushing for 382 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-24 Mountain West Conference win over SJSU.
For SJSU, it was a night of missed opportunities and an inconsistent run game. Despite trailing 21-10 at halftime, the Spartans had the ball inside the Air Force five yard line on two different occasions in the third quarter and failed to score on both possessions, throwing an incomplete pass on fourth down in both cases.
Josh Love completed 19-of-35 for 198 yards, but he was under attack more frequently this week than he had been earlier in the season.
The Spartans return home to CEFCU Stadium next Friday (October 4th) where they take on New Mexico. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm (PT). The game will also be televised on CBS Sports Network.
