The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-4, this afternoon and improved to 53-48 on the season.
Arizona jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings of play, while Brewers Ace Brandon Woodruff never looked comfortable.
The Brewers finally got some traffic on the base path on Arizona’s starter Alex Young. Then an unlikely hero for the Crew stepped up in a big way, Tyler Saladino hit a grand slam with two outs to tie up the game.
However, after two pitches to Tim Locastro in the Bottom of the fourth, Woodruff left the game grimacing.
Mike Moustakas gave the Brewers the lead in the eighth with a single. The Brewers would add two more runs in the inning off of Yasmani Grandal’s pinch-hit double and a Ben Gamel single.
The Brewers got some unfortunate news after the game. Brandon Woodruff is heading to the 10-day IL.
