The University of Wisconsin Softball team earned its right to play another day after an epic come-from-behind win tonight against Notre Dame in the elimination bracket. The Badgers beat the Irish, 5-4, in walk-off fashion to advance to Championship Sunday in the Norman Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
Trailing 4-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Badgers rallied back for a thrilling walk-off win. Freshman Jolie Fish started the inning off with a walk. Senior Kelly Welsh knocked in UW’s first run with a double the very next at bat to spark the comeback.
A fielding error two batters later allowed Welsh to score and Ally Miklesh to reach base to bring up the top of the lineup. Notre Dame walked Kayla Konwent, who had two doubles in the game.
Senior Stephanie Lombardo stepped to the plate with UW trailing by two with two outs and two runners on base. She crushed a ball to deep left center for a three-run walk-off dinger.

The Badgers will have another go at No. 1 Oklahoma tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm (CT) and the game will be aired live on ESPN3. If necessary, the second game will be played at approx. 3:30 pm (CT) and the TV is to be announced.
The Badgers held their own against the top ranked team in the country in the first game of the day today. Stellar pitching and defense limited a lethal Sooners offense to only two runs until they broke through with a two run home run in the seventh inning.
Starting pitcher Haley Hestekin went 4.1 innings and only allowed one earned run. The sophomore had three strikeouts and gave up two walks to the 23 batters she faced.
The UW offense was unable to break through, thus Wisconsin had to play Notre Dame in the losers bracket.
Wisconsin will need to beat Oklahoma twice tomorrow to advance to their first ever Super Regional.
