The Santa Clara High School Softball team fell short against Homestead yesterday by a final of 8-5.
The Bruins jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning of play, but allowed four runs in the second and three more in the third to fall behind 7-3 after three innings of play. Santa Clara tried to make a comeback late in the game after trailing 8-3, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Isabella Lai led the Bruins offense with three hits and Nevaeh Tavama had two hits with an RBI.
The loss drops Santa Clara’s record to 8-12 overall and 1-9 in league play. Up next for the Bruins, they play on the road tomorrow against arch-rival Wilcox at 4:00 pm (PT).
