The University of Wisconsin softball team run-ruled Iowa 8-0 in the opening game of the series tonight at Goodman Diamond. Wisconsin (28-5 overall, 5-2 B1G) scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to run past Iowa (15-16, 1-6).
Kayla Konwent led the day for the Badgers offense with three hits, while junior Kaitlyn Mentz pitched a stellar six innings for UW, striking out five while only allowing three hits for her 12th win of the season.
Game two between the Badgers and Hawkeyes is tomorrow at 1:00 pm (CT).
